Summary

My skill set encompasses the design and documentation of manufactured parts and assemblies and printed circuit boards (PCB’s) and their integration. I’ve managed projects from conception through the production process.

I have a strong fundamental background and am experienced in the practical application of industry standards (ANSI, ASME, IPC, etc.) for design and documentation. I’m competent in the concepts and application of best practices, design-for-manufacture (DFM) and continuous improvement.

I've been using AutoCAD since 1989, Altium (Protel) since 1994 and SolidWorks since 1998. I learned these applications by attending developer-approved classes. I also use Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite.

When developing solid model assets, I utilize fully defined part sketches and precisely mated assemblies.

I’m often in charge of the development and maintenance of libraries for schematic symbols, PCB footprints and templates. I configure software design constraints in order to better produce PCB designs optimized for DFM and incorporate solid model elements into the PCB design process to manage space and monitor collision issues.

Experience

CAD Drafter (temporary position)January 2015 - October 2015

ITC Service Group – Citrus Heights, California

ITC is a provider of personnel and services to the IT, Telecom and CATV industries for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of wireless and wire-line communications networks.

Responsibilities included:

Used 2D CAD and illustration software to create and maintain the documentation of outside plant (OSP) telecom fiber installation.

All work was performed using AutoCAD 2015, Microsoft Visio and proprietary OSP software.

CAD Drafter (temporary position)August 2014 - November 2014

All Weather Inc. – Sacramento, California

All Weather Inc. is a leading developer of highly accurate, state-of-the-art air traffic integration and surface weather measurement instruments.

Responsibilities included:

Used 2D CAD to design and document air traffic control center server and workstation installations. I also performed general engineering support.

Authored and processed ECO's, retrieving and analyzing data using the company’s MRP system and by interfacing with other affected departments.

All work was performed using DraftSight.

CAD DrafterMay 2013 - February 2014

English Manufacturing – Rancho Cordova, California

English Manufacturing designs and manufactures sneeze guards for use in restaurants and cafeterias.

Responsibilities included:

Used 2D and 3D CAD to design, document and revise mechanical parts and assemblies. Types of components include formed steel tubes, glass panels, mounting components and lighting accessories.

Reconfigured solid model assets, eliminating non-robust, non-logical and incorrect sketches, mates and configurations for parts and assemblies.

· This action improved the quality and ease of use of solid model assets and their management.

· This resulted in better quality designs, more logical design processes and the reduction of design time.

All work was performed using SolidWorks 2014 and AutoCAD LT 2011.

Electrical DesignerJanuary 2009 - February 2012

Schilling Robotics – Davis, California

Schilling Robotics designs, manufactures and services robotic manipulators and remotely operated vehicles (ROV’s) for deep-sea applications.

Responsibilities included:

Used 2D and 3D CAD to design and document mechanical parts and assemblies. Types of components consist of machined parts and assemblies and include hydraulic and electrical components.

Used PCB design software to design and document PCB’s and PCB assemblies. PCB types include high-speed Ethernet and voltage handling and were mixed signal circuits, medium-to-high density and mostly 4-layer but some 10+-layer designs.

· At the time of my hire, Schilling did not utilize a single, comprehensive library system nor did they consistently implement industry standard PCB design practices.

· The development and implementation of managed libraries resulted in the repeatable design of better quality PCB’s, shortened design time, the reduction of design iterations and a significant reduction of confusion.

· The employment of solid model elements greatly improved the integration of PCB assemblies into related mechanical parts. This was facilitated by my experience with and comprehension of mechanical design concepts.

Performed general revisions to all types of engineering documentation. Managed BOM’s and authored and processed ECO's, retrieving and analyzing data using the company’s MRP system and by interfacing with other affected departments.

All work was performed using SolidWorks 2011, AutoCAD LT 2011, Altium DXP 2010, OrCAD Schematic Capture and OrCAD PCB Editor v16.

Pasco Scientific – Roseville, CaliforniaAugust 1985 - March 2007

Electro-mechanical Designer

Pasco is a manufacturer of electronic and mechanical instrumentation and apparatus, computer peripherals and software for aid in instruction of all levels and disciplines of science, primarily physics.

Responsibilities included:

Used 2D and 3D CAD to design and document mechanical parts and assemblies. Types of components include injection molded plastic parts, machined parts, optical components, labels, some sheet metal parts, mechanical assemblies and packaging.

Used PCB design software to design and document PCB’s and PCB assemblies. PCB types include controlled impedance and were mixed signal circuits, medium density, and mostly 2-layer but some 4-layer PCB designs.

Used illustration software to created print-ready artwork for manual illustrations, labels and equipment panels. Used desktop publishing software to create test and qualification procedures and technical and instruction manuals.

Used EDM system to develop and manage digital assets for engineering.

Performed general revisions to all types of engineering documentation. Managed BOM’s, maintained part number logs and authored and processed ECO's, retrieving and analyzing data using the company’s MRP system and by interfacing with other affected departments.

Initiated and managed the introduction of new products from conception through pre and final release phases and into normal production.

Was assigned the most difficult tasks and projects.

Since 1989 all work was performed using SolidWorks 2007, AutoCAD release 14, Altium DXP 2004, Macromedia FreeHand 11, Adobe PageMaker and Adobe FrameMaker.
